Easter 2011

Once again, another fun-filled holiday has come and gone.  This past weekend went by in a flash.  Friday evening, we went to Gran and Toby's.  Lila couldn't wait to see her cousins.
They can't get enough of this swing
These kiddos got along and behaved so well all weekend (Lila woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday crying for Aiden).
...of course there were lots of dogs.
Saturday, we went to the outlet mall, and then Nana, Blue Papa, and Natalie came over for a while, and then we went back to Gran and Toby's for a cookout.
Sunday morning, after checking out the basket loot, we headed to Pappasito's for lunch
and, of course, the traditional pictures
Then, back to the Burleson's for the Easter Egg hunt

Aiden cracks me up.  He is so funny...
I don't know where he gets it from
By the end of the festivities, I think we all felt like Russ

Lila has always been afraid of the Easter Bunny and Santa.  The other day we were at the mall, and the Easter Bunny waived at her, and that is all it took for her to overcome her fear.  She was determined to take a picture with that bunny.   The little girl in front of us started crying, and Lila even tried to help her and kept telling her, "I was afraid, too, but the bunny is really nice".  It was so cute, and I was proud of her for overcoming her fear.  It was one of those moments when I felt like I was watching her literally grow up in front of my eyes.

Always an Adventure

It's always an adventure every time we go visit my family, and this past weekend was no different.
We got there on Friday night, went to Granny and Papa G.'s for dinner.  We were leaving when my brother and mother saw the cat sneaking up on a rabbit...and so the fun begins.  My Mother had to rescue the bunny (which also involved a hunt for the rabbit hole in the dark.  Of course, Lila was all in the middle of the drama)

On Saturday, we went fishing in the morning.  Lila caught her first ever fish!!!

In the afternoon, we went to William and Kyle's baseball game.
This was Lila's favorite part of the game...
followed by this.  That's what Grannies are for!
Saturday night Shawn fired up the pit and we had a great time sitting out on the porch, and of course there were a couple rides on the golf cart.
Sunday, we loaded up in the Mule (Kawasaki Mule) and went to look at all the new baby calves in the pasture.
The calf that is standing is Lila's new calf.  She named him Cowie.
There is nothing like a country fresh egg in taste or color.  They looked so pretty piled on this platter in Granny's kitchen

Not a Baby Anymore

The baby bed was our last piece of "baby" anything,
and now it is gone...
Lila is growing up and has a new Big Girl bed
She doesn't know it, but she'll always be our baby
p.s. since she got this bed, she hasn't woken me up one single time during the night...YEAH!!!

Lila Quotes from the past week...

*Daddy said a mean word...he said "no".
*I'm the Big Bad Wolf, and I'm gonna PUFF you
*Put my shoes on, so my feet won't get sick
*...but, I want my hiney to stink
*Where does poop live?
*Is that a Motorolla or a T-Mobile?
*Mama, everybody needs car insurance
*..but, the Easter Bunny is not watching me today
*I want Natalie to wear a veil with her wedding dress
*Mommy, be nice to your friends, and polite.  I want a good report today.

Lila: Bye, Mom. I am going to work.
Me: Where do you work?
Lila: At the hospital
Me: What do you do there?
Lila:  Make money

Spring Break 2011

Last Thursday, my two best friends and I braved the spring break/SXSW traffic and met in San Antonio for our annual Girls' Weekend.  This year we started the weekend off with a Bon Jovi concert!  It doesn't get much better than that (except for the 2 hour wait for a cab after the concert that totally ruined the party mood).  The concert was awesome!!!  They played all the greats; "Livin' on a Prayer", "I'll be There For You", my personal favorite "Bad Medicine" and of course you can't have a Bon Jovi concert without Richie and "Wanted: Dead or Alive".

 our self portrait
Ashley and I were pretty amused by the signs at the AT&T Center...We loved that even the little baby had spurs on.

On Friday, all the husbands and kids arrived (I am thinking that this is not going to be a regular event during Girls' Weekend).  The kids had the best time just being at the HO-tail (as Lila calls it).  There are so many things they loved about the hotel...like
laying in bed and watching movies
 watching more movies in bed
 Eating snacks in bed
 Reading the Bible
 watching more movies
 wrestling

We stayed at a great place in downtown San Antonio, and we were able to walk everywhere.  They had a huge dining area with 2 large TVs, and they let us pretty much take over that space, so we were able to spread out, watch the NCAA tournaments and let the kids run.

On Saturday, we went on one of the Riverwalk barges
In the afternoon, we went to Sea World
We saw the Shamu show; I am not sure if the adults or kids enjoyed it more

We caught a Sesame Street show which was really cute.
And...the sharks.  The girls could not wait to see the sharks, and they were very impressed

This guy was really cute...he just kept sliding back and forth.  He was definitely a crowd favorite.
When we got back to the hotel, I asked Lila what her favorite part of Sea World was, and she said "the train" (What?! There was no train)
This is for Grant...I got this picture emailed to me on the way back from Sea World and the title was "After Sea World Dinner"; it is comforting to know that some things will never change.
